Welcome to our blog here at Earthwise! We are gearing up for the 2020-2021 school year over here, gathering together our favorite autumn songs and crafts and already dreaming about acorns, pumpkins, apples, and all the Fall season wonders that are waiting to be discovered by our class. Throughout the year we will share some highlights from our class days, as well as favorite crafts, recipes, or other fun tidbits that forest school families might find interesting. For now, I want to share this poem that am feeling inspired by from Nicolette Sowder, founder of Wilder Child and the Wildschooling movement. Enjoy! “Give me the wild children

with their bare feet and

sparkling eyes. The restless,

churning climbers. The wild

ones using their outside

voices, singing all the way

home. Give me the wonder-filled

glorious mess makers

dreaming of mountains

and mud, aching to run through

a field of stars.”

" Every child should have mud pies, grasshoppers, water-bugs, tadpoles, frogs and mud-turtles, elderberries, wild strawberries, acorns, chestnuts, trees to climb, brooks to wade in, water-lilies, woodchucks, bats, bees, butterflies...sand, snakes, huckleberries, and hornets; and any child who has been deprived of these has been deprived of the best part of his education.
