The first signs of spring are everywhere- in the warm wet breeze, in the little seedlings poking their heads up out of the warming soil, in the migratory bird flocks moving through. We celebrated the halfway point between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox this week with out students with a traditional weave sometimes called the Brigid's Cross, and a guided meditation where we laid on the earth, became seedlings ourselves, and woke up slowly into springtime.

We enjoyed the beautitful sunshine and practiced our tree identification with one of our favorite games, "Tree Tag."

After a long winter break, we are all so happy to be together at forest school again!

" Every child should have mud pies, grasshoppers, water-bugs, tadpoles, frogs and mud-turtles, elderberries, wild strawberries, acorns, chestnuts, trees to climb, brooks to wade in, water-lilies, woodchucks, bats, bees, butterflies...sand, snakes, huckleberries, and hornets; and any child who has been deprived of these has been deprived of the best part of his education.
