Pumpkin Celebration

Earthwise Teachers

Updated: Nov 7, 2021

In celebration of pumpkins, Halloween, and the elemental magic present with us at this time of year, we had a festive week at school painting pumpkins, cooking Chanterelle mushrooms, and transforming ourselves into animals with face paint. The brilliant autumn sun shone down on us all week and we soaked it up, knowing there are many rainy days ahead.

At forest school, we integrate lots of natural movement just by exploring our world. Here we found an old pipe and took the opportunity to practice balance and connecting with our center of gravity.

" Every child should have mud pies, grasshoppers, water-bugs, tadpoles, frogs and mud-turtles, elderberries, wild strawberries, acorns, chestnuts, trees to climb, brooks to wade in, water-lilies, woodchucks, bats, bees, butterflies...sand, snakes, huckleberries, and hornets; and any child who has been deprived of these has been deprived of the best part of his education.
